Counterfeit CAT engine parts are sold on price and on packaging that looks familiar. The casting, the hardness, and the seal material are where they fall short, usually after the machine is back at work.
Reduce the risk
- Buy against a written quote that says OEM or the aftermarket brand
- Compare weight and finish with a part you trust
- Reject units with blurred stamps or seals that do not sit square
- Keep the packaging until the machine has run
An independent supplier is not the dealer. That should be stated, not hidden. What you should still expect is an honest description and a part number that matches the serial.
If the only promise is “same as original” with no brand, do not fit it in an engine you cannot afford to open again.
