Matching an Injector to the Engine Family

C9, C13, C15, and later common-rail engines do not share injectors. Here is a simple way to narrow the correct unit.

Matching an Injector to the Engine Family

Choosing an injector starts with the engine, not the excavator or truck badge. Two machines with the same model name can carry different engine arrangements.

A practical match

  1. Record the engine serial and arrangement number from the data plate.
  2. Identify the fuel system: mechanical, HEUI, or common rail.
  3. Compare the connector and the hold-down style with the old part.
  4. Check whether the engine uses injector trim codes.

Common-rail injectors are sensitive to dirt. If one failed from contamination, replace the filters and inspect the tank before the new set goes in. Metal in the fuel usually means a deeper fault in the pump or lines.

Send a photo of the old injector and the engine plate with your enquiry. That is faster than guessing from a machine model alone.
